QUESTIONS

WHEN IS A GOOD AGE FOR MY CHILD TO START LESSONS?

For 1-2-1 Lessons we recommend starting around the ages of 6-7 years old.
1-2-1 lessons can be pretty full-on and require a lot of focus. This is why we have a trial lesson to see how children cope with solo learning.

CAN I SIT IN ON MY CHILD'S LESSON?

Of course you can!
You are more than welcome to sit in on your child's lesson. There is also a waiting area outside the studio rooms should they want to be on their own for the lesson.
We love saying hi and catching up with parents. Just remember to keep the chit-chat to a minimum so the teacher can focus on the lesson.

DO I NEED TO BRING MY OWN INSTRUMENT TO LESSONS?

We have spare instruments, cables, and amps for you or your child to use at our studios.
You are of course more than welcome to bring your own instrument along as well!

CAN I POP TO THE SHOPS WHILST MY CHILD HAS THEIR LESSONS?

If your child is still in primary school we do ask that you wait around at the studio for them, either by sitting in lessons or waiting in the corridor.
Please communicate with teachers if you need to leave the building. Just make sure you're back in time for when their lesson has finished. Our teachers are not accountable for looking after students after their lesson timeslot.

DOES MY CHILD NEED TO TAKE MUSIC GRADES?

Grades are a widely debated topic amongst music teachers..
50% of our under 18's progress through grade exam material. We teach Rockschool, Trinity, and ABRSM exam boards for all instruments. We prep students for in-person and recorded exams.

Grades can be a fantastic structure and way to see your child progressing through music. However, if you are just wanting to learn an instrument as a side hobby or for fun the formal side to grades may not appeal to you so much. There is no one size fits all for learning. We encourage you to talk to your teacher if you are contemplating grades. They'll give you the best advice tailored to you or your child.

DO YOU OFFER ANY PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES?

Indeed we do! We host a summer show and charity Christmas concert each year.
These events are tailored towards first-time performers and are offered to both adult and child students.

Building confidence and creativity is our highest priority, so giving students as many performance opportunities as possible is incredibly important to us.
